Workshops
Date, Time : Tuesday May 5th, PAC Dr1, Thursdays May 7th, 14th, and 21st PAC Rehearsal Rm.
1:30 to 4 PM
Brief Description: Think Shakespeare is confusing or hard to connect with? Think again. This dynamic 4 session workshop is designed to transform the way you understand and perform Shakespeare – turning classic text into engaging, entertaining and fully alive scenes. This is not a lecture based class. Expect to be on your feet, collaborating, laughing, experimenting, and playing. Through improvisation, group exercises, scene work and creative games you will actively explore how Shakespeare’s words were meant to be spoken – alive, human and full of energy. By the end of the class you won’t just understand Shakespeare, you will perform a scene that is clear, engaging and genuinely entertaining for a modern audience. Come ready to play, take risks and discover just how fun Shakespeare can be. Please plan to be at all the sessions, as you will have a scene partner who will be counting on you to be there.
Workshop Leader: Donna Valenti has a degree in theater and a love for Shakespeare. She has directed several shows for the Theatre Guild and has a passion for exposing more people to the joys of good theater.
Fee: $10 (all workshops will include a materials fee)
