    This class will focus on how to vocalize, keeping your voice fit and strong for auditions and performances.  Elissa will teach you how to use your voice so you don't get laryngitis.


    Elissa Kaplan Senter will be leading this Workshop.  She is a stage, film, TV and radio voice over entertainer and artist.  She loves teaching and sharing her knowledge with other performers. This will be her 50th year as an Actor's Equity, SAG and AFTRA union member.  She began her off Off-Broadway career at the age of nine!

    Voice & Diction Part 1.

    Learn how to elevate your speech and project your best self for public speaking and acting.  Students will receive coaching on the script and text they choose.

    Kate Jacobs will be leading this Workshop. She has been performing since childhood on the stage, screen, radio and TV.  She is formally trained and held numerous roles including many in LW theater productions.  She really enjoys sharing her knowledge and looks forward to  seeing former students in this workshop.

    This Workshop has 4 sessions on Wednesdays, Feb 8th - March 1st, from 2-3:30 

    This beginner-level class will take you from the initial stages of preparing to audition in character, to the more complex work needed to build the character elements of a part once you have been cast.  You will learn the strategies used by good actors everywhere to imbue the character on the page with life.  This is one of the most essential creative elements of acting.

    Nicole Aloni will be leading this workshop. She has enjoyed an exciting, diverse career in the culinary and theater arts.  She attended UCLA as an acting major.  Throughout her prestigious catering career, she performed in Equity productions and television.  She proudly wrote and performed a one-woman show, Le Grand Fromage in Seattle, WA.  Nicole, delighted Laguna Woods residents in October 2022 with a gala that included a filmed version of the closing night of her show, French Picnic Supper and student scholarship auction.

    Paul Kratzer returns to teach his very popular workshop. His experience includes touring for ten years with a repertory theater company that performed around Europe, Africa and the USA.  He also taught short drama workshops of all kinds which he continues to do today.  Since coming to Laguna Woods, Paul has acted in numerous roles, including: Chasing Dreams, Baby Boomer Blues, Steamboat Malta and Café Murder (which he also Directed).

    This workshop has two sessions; March 8th and 15th from 1-3pm  

    Improv comedy is a type of live theater in which actors perform without a script.  Short, self-contained scenes will be created to provide the structure for improvisation.  Learn to listen, respond, react in a positive manner; show honest emotions and most importantly have fun.  You will learn that most improv techniques apply to other forms of theater.

    Workshop leaders are Barb Turino and Dr. Lisa Bender.  Both quick on their feet with a huge passion for authenticity!

    This workshop has 8 sessions in total.  Held 2x per week on Tues. & Thurs. from March 21st -April 13th from 11am-1pm.  

    The Eight Axioms of Acting Course covers: 1. learn how to create a believable character, 2.understand the true role of emotion in acting, 3. learn the skills needed for superior acting, 4. discover a character's true purpose, 5. experience the value of movement/blocking, 6. experience the two elements of action, 7. participate in dialogue analysis, 8. emphasis on staying in the now.

    Jeanne Sanner is back with us this fall teaching her 8 Axioms of Acting Workshop. Quite an accomplished actor, director, singer, coach, orchestra conductor and producer, she's experienced in all aspects of the theater Arts.  She's performed in major theaters and directed an array of musicals, comedies and dramas, including: The Fantastics, Steel Magnolias, Twelve Angry Jurors and most recently, Nigh Watch here in Laguna Woods Village. Jeanne successfully ran her own acting studio, Class Acting Academy.

    This Workshop has 5 sessions from May 4th - June 1st from 1-3pm.

    Have you gotten your act together?  If you want to improve your performance and go to the next level, consider joining Barb Turino as she returns to teach a third semester with Theatre Guild. These workshops will include a combination and expansion of the most popular subjects from the first and second semesters and new subjects depending on the needs of the participants.

    The classes will cover time and experience tested tools and techniques.  There is something for everyone regardless of acting experience.  New and returning students are welcome.  

    Barb is an actor, director, trainer executive coach and published author.  Her book Getting Your Act Together explores how to use the skills and tools that the actor uses both on stage and on the real stage of everyday live. She believes that we are all onstage everyday with a role to play in the show called life, with an audience who will hopefully give rave reviews and demand encore performances.
