Alexandra Bank will be leading this workshop.
Alexandra grew up in San Clemente and began acting professionally at the age of 8, appearing in TV shows such as My Three Sons, The Fugitive, several commercials, including a Barbie modeling layout. She earned her BA in Drama at UC Irvine, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and went on to work professionally in Hollywood as a young woman in various television roles. A few years ago, she returned to local community theatre stages, where she’s been thrilled to be cast in many cherished parts. Her most recent role was as Janet in 2 Across at the Laguna Woods’ Theatre Guild’s November meeting. Other recent roles include Clairee inSteel Magnolias, Lexie in Dixie Swim Club, Charlotte Hay in Moon Over Buffalo, Helga Ten Dorp in Deathtrap, Mrs. Braddock in The Graduate, Vivian Muldoon in Noir Man, Doris in Same Time Next Year and Florina in a Zoom Platform production of A Virtual Who Done It. In the past, she has taught acting classes at South Coast Repertory and at Stephanie Lloyd’s Acting Conservatory.
In this workshop you will learn the basic tools to improve the actor’s audition. Do you love to act but dread auditions? Feel unprepared when auditioning? Wonder why you didn’t land the part? Auditioning is a process which can be learned and mastered. This class will emphasize: Being active and in the moment, Creating an authentic character, Making strong character choices, Establishing a connection with another character, Adapting your audition interpretation, if asked to change it by the director. Copies of the cold reading scripts will be provided. No memorization will be necessary. Wear comfortable clothing.
